JESKO ABSOLUT: ready to fly
The presentation of the spectacular Koenigsegg Jesko may seem a long way off, as since the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, countless things have happened in the world. Pandemic, microchip and supply chain crisis, financial uncertainty, Ukraine war...
A year later, in the middle of 2020, the Swedish brand unveiled the Jesko Absolut, a version focused on reaching the highest possible top speed, with the aiming point placed above 500 km/h, which is said to happen soon.Koenigsegg has just released new images of the first pre-production Jesko Absolut, a car that will be used for all kinds of tests, and which features a Graphite gray body, with certain orange details.
Remembering that the Jesko Absolut has the same 5.0-liter V8 biturbo engine as the conventional Jesko, capable of delivering 1,623 horsepower and 1,500 Nm with E85 bioethanol, along with a 9-speed automatic transmission. In addition, despite its two turbos, the V8 engine advertises a maximum revs of 8,500 rpm.
“The Absolut is very natural to drive. Thanks to its smooth transmission, whether upshifting or downshifting, everything goes much faster,” says official Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh. “There are no delays, it responds quickly and behaves just as you would like it to”, he concludes, adding that his drag coefficient Cd is 0.278.
Koenigsegg's purpose is to create the fastest production car in the world, combining such power with aerodynamic craftsmanship, aiming for 330 miles per hour, or about 530 km/h.
It is worth remembering that the current absolute speed record is held by the SSC Tuatara, which achieved an average speed of 455.3 km/h, although the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300 has unofficially achieved a speed of 490 km/h, being the first to break the 300 mph barrier (483 km/h).
The founder of the Scandinavian brand, Christian von Koenigsegg, stated some time ago that the Jesko Absolut would be the fastest car ever made by the brand, implying that after this monster he has no intention of continuing to seek records.
