SSC Tuatara: o recorde foi atingido em duas corridas feitas nos arredores de Las Vegas, nos Estados Unidos

Dentist and philanthropist Larry Caplin drives his SSC Tuatara hypercar to a top speed record: 475 km/h

A fierce clash continues between sports car owners for the right to be called the fastest. At the moment, the leadership does not belong to a professional driver, but to a dentist and philanthropist Larry Caplin and his fast hypercar SSC Tuatara with a capacity of 1450 hp manufactured by the American company Shelby Super Cars.

The record-breaking race took place on the runway at the Kennedy Space Center, where NASA's legendary space shuttles recently landed. Its length is 3.7 km, with the last 1.1 km falling into the braking zone.

However, initially it was not about setting a record, only a test run was planned. However, as a precaution, Racelogic VBOX GNSS measurement systems, a GPS navigator and a video recorder were still installed in the cockpit.

To Larry Kaplan's credit, not only did he "fit" the distance offered to him (less than four kilometers), but he also accelerated to a record 475 km/h, managed to slow down and successfully complete the race.

To finally secure a world speed record, Kaplan will have to get all the necessary permits to race again, but this time on a stretch of highway in the Nevada desert.
