TOYOTA

Lexus TX e Toyota Grand Highlander chegam ao mercado dos EUA em 2023

Company will present three new lines of crossovers for the American market in 2023

Lexus dealers in the US are hoping for a three-line crossover that's bigger than the existing RX L but smaller than the full-bodied GX and LX SUVs. And as it turns out, your wishes will be granted next year as Lexus - and presumably Toyota - will introduce the Lexus TX and Toyota Grand Highlander three-line crossovers to the US market.

This information came from eminent foreign specialized publications, citing unidentified sources within the Japanese company itself. Furthermore, Toyota itself declined to comment on these rumors.

According to these same sources, the Lexus TX will be based on the Toyota Grand Highlander. The latter will be a longer version of the Toyota Highlander (also known as the Kluger in some parts of the world) to accommodate a spacious third row of seats. Both are expected to arrive in the US in the same year, with the Grand Highlander arriving six months earlier, in mid-2023. Both vehicles will also be built at Toyota's Indiana plant.

Whether the Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX will be based on an updated platform or just an expanded version of the current Highlander architecture remains to be seen. The current generation Highlander was introduced in 2019, so the timeline presented is quite complex.

Over the past two years, Toyota has registered trademarks for both three-line crossovers, with the Lexus TX reserved for the TX350 and TX500h, as well as the TX550h+PHEV. Meanwhile, Toyota registered the Grand Highlander trademark in 2021.
