Suzuki XL6 renews itself to take a breather in the disputed Indian market

Suzuki has embarked on an ambitious product offensive to consolidate its position in one of the most important emerging markets, India. In recent times the Japanese manufacturer, which operates in this country through the car conglomerate Maruti-Suzuki, is renewing its older models and introducing new ones to boost its sales.

The latest novelty released was the new Suzuki XL6. A model that closed the convulsed year of 2021 marked by the stock crisis as the 22nd best-selling car in India, touching 40,000 vehicles. It is now undergoing a mid-lifecycle upgrade facelift that will allow this generation to face the rest of the business life ahead.

As for the changes of this Suzuki model, in fact, just take a quick look at the images released by the brand to discover the most characteristic features of the new XL6. It was developed on the basis of the new design language 'Crafted Futurism'. It is the second model of the company to adopt this interesting philosophy.

It is important to bear in mind that, as this is a facelift, most of the aesthetic innovations focus on the front. The front features a new grille and updated optical groups in which LED technology is used. If we move to the side view, the original essence of this model is revealed. The plastic guards, roof bars and the body's headroom suggest an adventurous vehicle.

Ending the tour of the exterior at the rear, there are also news. Highlight for the taillights and plastic protections incorporated into the bumper itself. Suzuki took advantage of this update to increase the level of customization of the XL6. In addition to incorporating new 16-inch wheels, there are options for a two-tone finish for the body with a contrasting roof.

The new Suzuki XL6 measures 4,445 mm in length, 1,775 mm in width, 1,755 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,740 mm.

Regarding the interior of the new XL6, there is a cabin where the brand sought to prioritize comfort and at the same time improved the technological endowment. The nerve center is a 7.0-inch touchscreen. A fundamental component for managing the SmartPlay Pro infotainment system.

The instrument panel has a very classic configuration where two analogue dials are combined with a small color information display. Also worthy of note is the multifunctional steering wheel and the climate control module.

The brand did not neglect safety equipment either. The new XL6 has multiple airbags (front and side), 360º camera, tire pressure sensor, ESP and hill start assistant. All this on the HEARTEC platform with high torsional rigidity.

As for the mechanical part, if we take a look under the hood of the new XL6 we will find a 1.5-liter Dualjet VVT gasoline engine that develops a power of 103 hp and 137 Nm of maximum torque. This block can be mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic that is offered along with steering column-mounted shift paddles.
