HYUNDAI
Through a partnership between Worksport and Hyundai America Technical Center, the two companies will test Worksport's solar canopy and COR energy storage system on Santa Cruz pickup trucks.
The companies didn't go into specifics, but a solar trunk lid is capable of generating up to 650 watts of power - just park your car in the sun. The energy will be fed into a modified version of the Worksport COR energy storage system, which is essentially a portable solar generator with a standard output of 1,500 Wh.
Worksport said Hyundai provided "3D data" for the project, and the partners are now examining the benefits of each other's products to "determine the feasibility of a future partnership".
More interestingly, the companies have agreed to a tentative release date for a "vehicle that has not yet been announced".
This should come as a surprise, and the enigmatic model will apparently be equipped with Worksport solar technology and a COR energy storage system. It is scheduled to be "ready for presentation at Hyundai's headquarters in October 2022".
