MINI John Cooper Works at the Nürburgring 24 Hours
MINI is back in green hell! The MINI John Cooper Works has been confirmed for the next edition of the legendary Nürburgring 24-hour race after 10 years out of contention. The brand will be, together with Bulldog Racing, in the dispute of the most impressive endurance race on the planet, competing in the SP3T category.
The return-to-track project began in September 2020, when Bulldog Racing began changes to the JCW for the race. Regarding the street model, the racing version received minor changes. The 2.0 TwinPower Turbo engine is the same as the Countryman model, delivers 306 hp and 450 Nm of torque, and is mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.Inside, in addition to losing almost all finishes and coatings for weight relief, the racing model gained a rollcage, a mandatory item in competition cars and of paramount importance for the safety of the driver. The glasses were also replaced by polycarbonate parts for safety and weight.
The fuel tank has changed and now has 100 liters of capacity. The suspension and chassis have been strengthened and given an exclusive racing setup. In addition, Bulldog Racing's MINI JCW gained a pneumatic system for quick tire changes, sports exhaust and M Performance brakes.
The 50th edition of the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring will take place from the 26th to the 29th of May.
