MAYBACH S 680 BY VIRGIL ABLOH

In December of last year, Mercedes-Maybach caused a sensation with its Project Maybach prototype, created by famous fashion designer Virgil Abloh.

Abloh passed away in November 2021 after being diagnosed with a cardiac angiosarcoma in 2019. However, his heritage and experience will live on forever with the new Mercedes-Maybach S 680.

Thus, this new vehicle is the culmination of the cooperation between the former artistic director of Louis Vuitton and the luxury car brand Mercedes-Benz.

Unlike the Project Maybach, which was an off-road prototype with a very extravagant design and overall approach, the new Maybach designed by Virgil Abloh is a production model that will be sold in the United States. In fact, it is based on an S Class Maybach, specifically the S 680, with a production of just 39 units for this market.

For the car's creative process, the fashion guru teamed up with Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Mercedes-Benz. The last details of the model were profiled in 2021, before Abloh's untimely demise, and the project now materializes with the personalization and craftsmanship team at Mercedes-Benz Manufaktur in Sindelfingen, Germany.

The exterior of the S Class Maybach by Virgil Abloh features a color scheme with beige as the protagonist, and black exerting contrast on the roof, hood and pillars. On the wheels, they display the classic Maybach design and also bet on the beige finish.

The interior follows the same color theme, with beige leather for the seats, door panels, armrests and underside of the dashboard. Starting from the top center display (which is an evolution of the well-known MBUX system), almost everything gets a black leather finish.

Remembering that the Maybach S 680 has a 6.0-liter V12 biturbo engine, which generates a maximum power of 612 hp. A figure sufficient to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reach a limited top speed of 250 km/h.
