KYMCO DTX: scooter “Crossover Adventure”
The new DTX is Kymco's latest proposal among its scooters, born to become the brand's best seller, taking over from the successful Super Dink, which for more than a decade has been the brand's GT Premium. Super Dink, which is the best-selling model in the history of Kymco Spain and since 2009, the date of its launch, 65,000 units have been placed on the market, with Spain also being the leading European market for this model.
The DTX seeks to maintain that outstanding sales position of the Super Dink by inheriting its mechanics, construction quality and robustness, updating the general design concept of the scooter towards the current trend of greater market demand such as the "adventure" models, scooters that take the trail concept of motorcycles, urban and adventurers.
MIX...The acronym DTX defines it, due to its dual use, crossroads for field/highway use. It also bears the number 360 in its name, in reference to a global use 360 vision concept, although its inclusion leads to confusion when thinking that it is the engine displacement.
The DTX model is marketed with 125 cc (12.87 hp) and 350 cc (28.16 hp) 4-stroke engines. The 350 cc version is equipped with the KYMCO traction control system that works in concert with the ABS anti-lock system.
The TCS is activated when the rotational speed of the rear wheel is greater than 5 km/h -equivalent to linear speed- with respect to the rotational speed of the front wheel. When both wheels return to turning at similar speeds (as long as the turning speed of the rear is below 5 km/h compared to the front), the engine returns to its normal ignition map. The TCS (Traction Control System) mechanism can be activated or deactivated from the left control panel.
The riding position also caters to this "trail" need with a new handlebar, which, due to its position and angle, offers greater control on uneven surfaces, while allowing you to ride a bit while standing up.
In the design of the DTX Kymco Spain has had a say and a "vote", and the model has three main exclusive adaptations for the Spanish market, at the request of the management and technical team of the brand in Spain, focused on considerably increasing comfort.
As in the rear-view mirrors: the Spanish DTX version is equipped as standard with ones with a larger surface and width and with a greater adjustment angle, with an increased field of vision, very useful especially in urban environments. In the suspension after the different off-road tests, Kymco Spain has requested specific adjustments with the aim that the damping absorbs irregularities even more without sacrificing comfort, more in line with the crossover positioning of the model.
COMPLETE EQUIPMENT...The DTX has a "keyless" system for greater comfort that avoids having to use the key, being able to carry it in your pocket, activating remotely, to turn on the ignition, lock the steering, open the tank lid and the aforementioned saddle opening, with the smart lock system.
We add that this DTX includes a glove box on the left side with a large space, with a USB charger, having another second USB slot on the front of the handlebar, this one is very useful if we carry a mobile phone or a GPS on a support anchored to the handlebar, in this time of so much use of electronic devices for the browser, for example.
The design of the large LCD digital board stands out, with a lot of information and which has greatly improved its legibility in all lighting conditions and the incidence of sunlight on it. All the lighting is Full Led with the front and rear optics with a larger surface.
And for this scooter, the largest catalog of accessories available on a Kymco vehicle to date is offered: side fenders (120 euros); upper (120 euros) and lower (140 euros) metal footrests; wider dome (180 euros); hand covers (65 euros); passenger support (115 euros); support for the mobile phone (75 euros); KY 30 trunk (trunk with standard base, 109 euros; support, 135 euros).
