BORGWARD

ADEUS À BORGWARD: MARCA ALEMÃ VAI À FALÊNCIA MAIS UMA VEZ

German manufacturer Borgward reaches the end of the line

Borgward had a very short second life. In the hands of the grandson of the founder of the company and with the financial help of Foton Motor, a huge manufacturer of vehicles of Chinese origin, they tried to give the brand a new opportunity, but unfortunately they were not successful.

According to the latest data coming in from China, Borgward has gone bankrupt. In a way, this is due to the fact that it has been a few years since Foton Motor lost interest in the company and sold 70% of the shares to UCar, a group also Chinese that ended up with 75% of the company, but without nothing to improve the product offering.

In recent years Foton Motor has continued to produce several models of the brand in its plants and has tried to sell them in various international markets with great effort, but with very high prices they have not managed to capture the attention of users.

In addition to China, Borgward marketed its vehicles in Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Peru, Bolivia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, etc. Except in Peru, Bolivia and the United Arab Emirates, the brand did not achieve relatively important sales.

The manufacturer's current offering included the BX3, BX5, BX6 and the BX7. All models have supercharged engines with good performance and a very extensive range. The quality of the finishes also stands out in relation to other Chinese models, but not so much when compared to the German premium brands.
