EXCLUSIVE: new generation of the famous Alfa Giulia sedan will be electrified

The Alfa Romeo Giulia is one of the most popular sports sedans on the market today. However, the already veteran foundations on which it stands and the overwhelming public attention to crossovers and SUVs have made its future in doubt for some time. However, model enthusiasts no longer need to worry, as Jean-Philippe Imparato, CEO of Alfa Romeo, confirmed this week that the Giulia will survive, albeit as an all-electric vehicle.

“We are not going to abandon Giulia,” Imparato assured journalists during a visit to one of the company's plants in Italy, according to Automotive News Europe. "There will be a future Giulia, and it will be an all-electric model."

Imparato did not detail what kind of electric powertrain the next Giulia might have or when it will be released. Since the current Giulia first appeared in 2015, we expect a new version sooner rather than later. Nor has it been determined so far whether there will be a high-performance Quadrifoglio version.

An all-electric Giulia isn't the only new product Alfa Romeo has in store. Imparato told reporters that he plans to launch an all-electric SUV to sit above the existing Stelvio and act as the Italian brand's new flagship. The vehicle, which does not yet have a known name, will be launched in 2027 and will mainly compete with proposals such as the BMW X5, according to Automotive News Europe.
