Brand sedan leaves the line to make way for an SUV
In recent times the Europeans have been without the Mondeo, without the Passat and now it's time for the Renault Talisman (image above). The French model of the diamond brand looks like it has also been hit by the SUV wave.
While the SUV craze spreads around the world, attracting more and more buyers, manufacturers are evolving their lineup to the tastes of customers and, to be honest, more and more SUV models are being manufactured because the market doesn't want anything else.
While in Wolfsburg they chose to keep the Passat alive in the station wagon body, in France they were not so complacent, as neither the Talisman sedan nor the Talisman station wagon will remain on the market. Remembering that in many markets the models could no longer be purchased since March 2021 due to low demand.
Renault stopped making the Talisman at the end of February, but that doesn't mean the sedans are no longer available in its range, as the French brand continues to offer models such as the Taliant, Mégane and Logan in select markets.
The loss of the Talisman and bodies like the Clio station wagon in the current generation has only moved the line towards SUV products derived from other models. If today's customer wants to buy a station wagon model from Renault, he will only have the family Mégane and if he wants a sedan at that level, it is better to look for alternatives.
Renault has no plans for a direct replacement. It is believed that the Volkswagen Passat will not return in a new generation. The Opel Insignia is expected to transform into an SUV, while the new Ford Mondeo made for China will not be available in Europe.
Residents of Europe who want models with a sedan body for now can count on the Mazda6, Mazda3, Toyota Camry, Peugeot 508, DS 9, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Skoda Superb, Skoda Octavia, Volvo S60, the Volvo S90 and the models of the German trio, which seem to follow with plans for the future.
