ACURA INTEGRA 2023: the future of the Honda Civic
As already written, the ILX is in the past to open the door to the Acura Integra as the new line access model. On the basis of the Honda Civic, the Japanese brand created a liftback with a strong premium flavor and enthusiastic spirit, to pave the way in the same category as the Audi A3 Sedan and the Mercedes-Benz CLA.
The original Integra was launched in 1986 and was one of Acura's first models. Today it faithfully revives the original concept, with a five-door liftback body, adapted to the brand's contemporary design language. The front part receives very sharp lines, in the image and likeness of the rest of the line. The rear, for its part, is very different from any other model of the brand, with a strong coupe character, despite being a five-door model.
The interesting thing about the Acura Integra lies in its mechanical proposal, which seeks to attract enthusiast drivers to the brand through a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 203 hp and 260 Nm, available with a 6-speed manual transmission. Acura speaks of a sporty tuning, a rigid chassis, an exhilarating exhaust sound, direct steering and - optionally - an adaptive suspension. As an alternative, a CVT automatic transmission is also offered, specially configured for this vehicle, with paddles on the steering wheel.
The premium approach is also reflected in the interior. This is perhaps where it least disguises its kinship with the Civic, as a fair amount of dashboard parts, including the A/C controls, ventilation screens and the center console are shared with the Honda model. Where the Integra defends its position is through a selection of the finest materials and a dose of superior equipment. As standard, all Acura Integra will feature a digital instrument panel with a 10.2-inch screen, 9.0-inch infotainment screen, wireless compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-speaker sound system and an electric driver's seat. , among others. Along the line, you can add a 16-speaker ELS Studio sound system, Alexa integration, induction charger for phones, electrically adjustable co-driver seat, driving mode selector with ‘Individual’ program, among others.
In terms of security there is also important information. It includes the Acura driving assistance package as standard, plus it integrates a new generation of front airbags, designed to reduce the risk of brain and neck injuries. In all its versions it will also include rear side airbags.
Acura Integra reservations in the United States will begin later this semester. Around the same time, production will begin at the brand's facilities in Ohio, where the TLX is also produced. The brand has yet to announce pricing, but confirms its intention to start the line at around $30,000. Among its rivals are the Audi A3 Sedan, the Mercedes-Benz CLA and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.
