Novo caminhão BYD 100% elétrico de 12 t de PBT chega por R$ 998 mil

Chinese brand presents new multipurpose 100% electric truck for the Brazilian market

BYD introduced the eT712.220(image above), its new all-electric multipurpose truck within urban operations. That is, with a total gross weight (GW) of 12 tons, the average vehicle meets the most diverse applications in cities. But, because of its autonomy of up to 230 km, the truck can also work in intercity operations.

According to the sales director of BYD Brazil, Henrique Antunes, the Chinese brand is betting on the transport of beverages and e-commerce. Segments that, according to the executive, in addition to being heated, demand a more sustainable fleet. Therefore, they are more likely to buy electric trucks for their operations.

In this sense, it is worth noting that the new BYD eT712,220 comes with a price of R$ 998 thousand. In addition, as it is imported, the only available line of financing is that offered by traditional banks.

In any case, the new truck has an electric motor that develops 217 hp and a robust 45 mkgf of torque. It is powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries. Battery pack recharge time is two to three hours with DC (high power) charger. Or four to five hours on AC (low power) alternating current chargers.

In addition, the eT7 12.220 has an electric motor and four-speed automated transmission. The truck has air conditioning as standard. And its suspension system is leaf-spring.

BYD arrived in Brazil in 2015 and is experiencing a good moment in the commercial vehicle segment, where it has focused its operations until now. In this sense, in 2021, with the eT3 electric van alone, BYD grew by 1,114%, with 120 units of the model licensed.

For this year, Antunes estimates that the market, especially for commercial vehicles for urban use, will invest in electrification. "The transport entrepreneur understood the needs of a more sustainable logistics. As well as how much sustainability brings return to its operations", says the executive of the Chinese manufacturer in the country.

However, in addition to the eT3 and the new eT7, by June this year the brand will bring a new model to the market. This is the semi-heavy T18 intended for operations with a PBT of 21 tons. That is, beverage and industrial operations with inter-municipal action. The collection of urban waste will be another segment that the truck will operate in Brazil.

In addition to it, BYD plans for the end of the 2nd semester another launch. It will bring a 7-ton PBT light truck to the domestic market. However, Antunes did not reveal the details of the model. Only that it will be a competitor for the JAC iEV 1200 T, which has already sold more than 100 units in the country.

In any case, for the director of BYD, both the new eT7 and the new generation of it, which arrives this year, will meet a range of applications. And the trend is for the brand to expand its portfolio in the coming years.
