Absolute rarity: 1993 Toyota Twin Turbo in like-new condition to be auctioned in the US
Probably one of the most desired cars among Japanese classics enthusiasts. Famous for its ability to increase horsepower and its appearance on movie screens, the Toyota Supra A80 is a wonder item that can be worth large sums of money if it has low mileage and is in original condition. These are precisely some of the attributes of this 1993 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo Sport Roof that will be auctioned between March 25th and 26th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We are talking about a Supra Premier Edition which, according to the auction house RM Sotheby's, which will be in charge of finding a new buyer at the event it organizes at the end of the month, is “well maintained and with low mileage, with a manual transmission of 6 speeds”.
This transmission is linked, as it could not be otherwise, to the well-known 2JZ-GTE 6-cylinder in-line twin turbo engine. With 3.0 liters of capacity, this mechanic develops 321 hp of power according to its original specifications. It has also been properly maintained, including a timing belt and water pump change in October 2017.The bodywork is finished in Renaissance Red factory color on original 17-inch alloy wheels in a five-spoke design. The interior features Ivory leather on the original seats, which also show some signs of wear typical of a 29-year-old car. The dashboard, steering wheel, center console, door panels and floor mats are finished in black.
Manufactured in 1993, the first year of production for the A80, this Toyota Supra Twin Turbo “is in original condition with no modifications,” according to the auction announcement. It will be sold with factory manuals and a record of maintenance invoices for the 18,807 miles (30,266 kilometers) it has driven over the past nearly three decades. For now, RM Sotheby's has not provided more details about this Toyota classic, such as the origin and number of owners. Nor has it released an estimate of the sale price it can reach during the auction between March 25th and 26th.
