Manhart SL 800 R: gets a new look and reaches a top speed of 315 km/h
The new Mercedes-AMG SL was introduced just four months ago, but the experts at Manhart have already found a way to make the convertible even more interesting.
The German tuner's vision for the new SL is called the Manhart SL 800 R and it starts to stand out thanks to the exterior paintwork, which, as tradition dictates, combines a black paintwork with gold-tone stripes. But there is more. Manhart offers a lowered suspension and its own signature wheels, while clarifying that the exterior and interior have many other customization possibilities, although they do not discriminate.
But if the car's design leaves little room for change, most likely because it is the most aggressive SL ever made, the mechanics offer much more potential than what Mercedes-AMG has shown.
At least that's the opinion of Manhart, who left the new SL with 800 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of maximum torque. To achieve these numbers, the German specialist kept the SL's 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine - which in the most powerful version produces 585 hp and 800 Nm - but installed new turbos, a new intercooler and a carbon fiber intake.
Although Manhart did not specify, to achieve this increase of 215 hp and 200 Nm it is likely that the company's engineers also tinkered with the Engine Control Unit. Manhart did not report the records that this SL 800 R is capable of achieving, but it is safe to say that it will perform better than the most powerful of the SL, the SL 63 4MATIC , which, leaving the factory, accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h. in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 315 km/h.
For now, Manhart has only shown its vision for this new model from the house of Affalterbach. However, it has not yet revealed how many units of this SL 800 R will be produced or when they will begin production. Of course, the price has not yet been announced.
