Brand prepares reissue of the legendary Peugeot 104

In just a few months there will be an important anniversary for one of the models that marked Peugeot's recent history. The iconic French brand is getting ready to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Peugeot 104. A model that marked an era and was fundamental in the motorization of a large part of French citizens, as well as the rest of the Old Continent.

The rise of electrification in Europe, and more specifically of electric mobility, is being key for certain models to come back to life. A clear example of this trend is the expected Renault 5 E-Tech. The Renault 5 will return to the market transformed into an electric car. So maybe the same thing could happen with the Peugeot model. These recreations allow a glimpse of a hypothetical Peugeot e-104.

Peugeot introduced the 104 to the market in 1972(image below). A model that generated a lot of interest due to the level of practicality it offered in its competitive segment. The four-door body and its length of 3.58 meters made it an ideal vehicle for traveling in urban environments. As part of the celebration of his 'golden anniversary', an exhibition will be dedicated to him at the Peugeot Adventure Museum from June until December 2022. Important events are also planned through the Club Peugeot 104.

Unfortunately, and despite the role he played, at this moment Peugeot is not considering the return of the 104. Even more so when the Peugeot 108 was discontinued. There are bad times for this type of vehicle. And most brands that continue to bet on this segment do so by resorting to electrification.

Anyway, in addition to Peugeot's plans, it's the perfect time to imagine what the resurgence of this model would look like. To return to life in Europe, it is unquestionable that the brand would opt for a 100% electric propulsion system. That is, a Peugeot e-104. A model capable of taking on the FIAT 500e and the MINI Cooper SE. All this without losing sight of the future launch of Renault.

The recreations that appear in the images show a design that combines the past with the future. Playing with the nostalgic component is a fantastic idea to captivate the veteran audience and followers. The e-104's natural habitat would be the big city, an environment where it could make the most of its propulsion system's capabilities.

It is important to remember that, currently, the model that plays the role of access tram to the Peugeot line is the e-208. If this e-104 proposal is materialized, we will be facing the most affordable tram of the French brand.
