Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition 2022
As a tribute to Alan Mann Racing's experimental 1966 Ford GT prototypes and to take Ford Performance even further, Ford introduces the new 2022 Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition, a limited-edition vehicle that celebrates the role that have had the prototype racing cars in the history of the development of the Ford GT.“Whether blazingly fast on the racetrack or outperforming the competition in innovation, the Ford GT Alan Mann Edition Heritage pays tribute to the vehicles that helped lead Ford to its victories,” said Mike Severson, Ford GT Program Manager. "With its red and gold bodywork, this Ford GT is inspired by Alan Mann Racing's contribution to our Le Mans-winning history."
In 1965 and 1966, Alan Mann Racing used lighter materials to create the AM GT-1, along with a second car, based on the GT MK I. Although neither prototype won a major race, the use of lightweight materials was similar. to those who helped Ford win at Le Mans with the GT MK II in 1966.
This spirit continues within today's Ford GT supercar, with a lightweight carbon fiber bodywork now disguised as a GT Heritage Edition for 2022 in colors and striping inspired by the AM GT-1.
The limited edition pays homage to the original...In addition to using Alan Mann's signature red exterior paintwork with gold graphics, this limited edition GT includes a double roof stripe, and a few other decorative stripes in the exclusive Frozen White tone, plus of circles with the number 16 on the doors, on the front and on the underside of the rear wing.
Exposed carbon fiber components are glossy and stand out even on the 20-inch wheels, as well as the front splitter, side sills, mirrors, engine screens and rear diffuser. The Brembo brake calipers are varnished in black with red graphics, in addition to the black nuts, which further modernize the aesthetics.
Carbon fiber runs through the cabin and appears on the door frames and console. The carbon fiber seats upholstered in Ebony Alcantara have gold and red decorative stitching, while the seats and headrest surfaces are embossed with the GT logo. The instrument panel is upholstered in Ebony and Alcantara leather, as is the roof covering.
Gold instrument panel inserts, door hinges and seat X-bracket combine with matte carbon fiber accents, door sills, lower A-pillars and console. The steering wheel is finished in Ebony Alcantara with black stitching, while the dual-clutch gearshift lever is finished in Alan Mann Red to match the exterior.
Honoring the Ford GT's early efforts in racing...Closing its final year of production, the 2022 Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition pays tribute to Alan Mann Racing and the support the team provided from the UK in 1965. The Lessons learned during that time improved the Ford GT40's capabilities and led to its third and fourth fastest times at the 1966 Le Mans races.
Ultimately, the Le Mans committee decided to use the heaviest and most powerful 7.0-litre V8 race cars for the remainder of the 1966 season, which culminated in a 1-2-3 podium for Ford at Le Mans, ending with the sequence of light versions of the British team.“It is a great honor for Alan Mann Racing and the Mann family to celebrate the Ford GT's epic motorsport heritage with this fantastic limited edition car,” said Henry Mann, managing director of Alan Mann Racing Ltd. our team's exterior comes back to life, and introducing this new GT alongside one of our original GT40s in Chicago will undoubtedly be a magical moment.”
