DS SMART TOUCH: system that allows the driver to drive more safely

The design of the DS 4 immediately conveys the presence of different and advanced technologies on board. Once again, DS Automobiles has devised innovative solutions that manage to fascinate with the originality of their approach. This is the case of the DS SMART TOUCH, which is presented through the 5.0-litre touchscreen located in the central tunnel next to the gear selector.

The designers at DS Automobiles developed this system to avoid driver distractions during use. Its effectiveness is linked to the DS IRIS system, based on natural voice recognition and graphically shows its presence with the visualization of a prism on the small screen.

The two systems are constantly linked with DS NAVIGATION and thanks to 6 customizable shortcuts, the driver can memorize a series of common commands and activate them with a simple gesture without having to take their eyes off the road at any time. Some examples of customizing this menu are: adjusting the climate to a certain temperature, navigating to a regular destination and even tuning the radio to the preferred station.

The possibility of synthesizing commands through a brief gesture with the DS SMART TOUCH is just one of the features that the 5.0-inch touchscreen allows, with which it is also possible to:

- Validate input and output pop-up functions such as incoming phone calls;

- Insert 'calligraphically' a destination in the browser or the name of someone you want to call thanks to the recognition of natural handwriting;

- Coordinate advanced gestures like Zoom forward and backward or double click (progressive zoom), pinch to rotate, two finger scroll (map change) for cartography (2/3 or full screen);

The mechanism is really easy to use and to activate the system just a long touch that also allows you to view the 6 shortcuts on the central screen. If you want to close the DS SMART TOUCH screen, just press the left or right part of the screen with your finger.

DS IRIS and DS SMART TOUCH are available as standard or as an option depending on the finish.
