RALLY DAKAR 2022
After two weeks, the 2022 Dakar has finally come to an end. In trucks, the Kamaz team's dominance was evident from the first moment. And it was Dmitry Sotnikov, one of the team's members, who won not only in this Friday's stage (14), between Bisha and Jedá, but in the competition as a whole.
In the 12th and final stage of the rally, Andrey Karginov even started well and led in the first kilometers, even without opening up much of an advantage to the other competitors. Soon after, however, the lead was transferred to Sotnikov, who did not let go.
After 164 kilometers of special, Russian Dmitry Sotnikov won the stage and secured the 2022 title in the trucks, alongside partners Ruslan Akhmadeev and Ilgiz Akhmetzianov. Martin Macik ended the day in second place, with Ignacio Casale in third, followed by Eduard Nikolaev and Andrey Karginov.
In the general classification, Sotnikov won with 41h37min34s in accumulated time. Nikolaev closed the competition in second, 9min58s behind. The Kamaz court was completed by Shibalov and Karginov, respectively. Janus van Kasteren was in fifth place, being the “best of the rest”, more than 3 hours behind the champion.
