RALLY DAKAR 2022

Toby Price se ha hecho con el triunfo en la décima etapa del Dakar 2022

Toby Price wins and Joan Barreda has a shot at the Dakar 2022 that leads Adrien Van Beveren

The Dakar 2022 goes red after the dispute of the tenth and the penultimate stage, with departure in Wadi Ad Dawasir and arrival in Bisha. A total of 757 kilometers with 374 special that the Australian Toby Price had traveled faster than swimming to complete his first stage, and at the beginning it was imposed on the fifth but a sanction handed over the triumph to the Italian Danilo Petrucci.

On this occasion, the Australian -with no options in the general after several small mishaps- has reversed 3 hours, 5 minutes and 32 seconds in a day in which Argentine Kevin Benavides has abandoned and in which Joan Barreda has been the third to Ponerse a room in the general 48 seconds from the podium and less than seven minutes from the new leader, the French Adrien Van Beveren.

Three names starred in the start of the stage: the first of the Argentine Kevin Benavides, who suffered a mechanical problem at kilometer 133 and after several minutes stopped, had to opt for the withdrawal, losing the option of being the first pilot of the history in revalidate the victory in Dakar with a distinct brand that won it.

Others of the sons of his former compañeros in Honda: Chilean Nacho Cornejo, winner ayer, who has started by giving an authentic exhibition of navigation to mark really competitive times despite having to open track, until the point of departure in just over a minute in WP4 with respect to the other outstanding pilot, Joan Barreda, who shared the best time with the Polish Maciej Giemza in WP1, he passed to command in the following points.

Everything would change between WP4 and WP5, where Cornejo gave 17 minutes for the 11 of the American Ricky Brabec and the six of Joan Barreda. The three were surpassed by the Austrian Matthias Walkner, who had the opportunity to strike a definitive coup in Dakar… but from there he began to lose time.

A flow of minutes that starts in the final section, where it takes up to 16 minutes with respect to the most rapid. It wouldn't be the only one, as other favorites to the final victory also had problems in that sector: the British Sam Sunderland gave up 11 minutes there and the Chilean Pablo Quintanilla, who was stuck in the fight for the stage, if he left minutes.

All in all, the Australian Toby Price had gone from less to more than the second in the WP5 behind Quintanilla, went ahead in the WP6 and was increasing his advantage until he won the stage for two minutes over the Argentine Luciano Benavides, who, in a discreet Dakar, was able to take the lead in these last stages.

In the final, the third position of the stage went to Joan Barreda, who gave up just over three minutes with Price and finished 14 seconds ahead of the Frenchman Adrien Van Beveren; that with the errors of Walkner, Quintanilla and Sunderland has recovered the leadership of a general classification that goes red alive.

The fifth position has been for the Spanish Lorenzo Santolino, who after changing the engine -and penalizing 15 minutes that the sacaron of the top 10- seems to have recovered speed, just like the Slovak Stefan Svitko. The top ten has been completed by the American Andrew Short, the Polish Maciej Giemza, the Portuguese Rui Gonçalves and the Chilean Pablo Quintanilla, finally just seven minutes from Price.

Quintanilla will have a good starting position in the morning, just like his rivals for the victory: Sam Sunderland, who was 19th to 11 minutes from the winner; and Matthias Walkner, 27th to 16th minute. The Austrian finished just behind Nacho Cornejo and Joan Pedrero, who are still on the edge of the top 20.
