LAMBORGHINI DEFINE A DATA DO SEU PRIMEIRO ELÉTRICO

The crown jewel of the brand surrenders to electrification

Things are going to change a lot in the next few years, and it's largely to blame for electrification. Therefore, and taking advantage of the huge change that will happen in the automobile industry, many companies have already announced their electric models. And Lamborghini is not far behind in this regard, as it has announced that its first all-electric model will have four doors.

It was Stephan Winkelmann himself, CEO of the company, who confirmed the arrival of an electric car for the year 2028, which will be destined for a segment where the brand currently has no presence. He also confirmed that 2022 will be the last year that Lamborghini will have a catalog consisting of models powered solely by internal combustion engines. From 2023 onwards, hybridization will gradually reach the products of the Italian manufacturer.

Obviously, Lamborghini's electrification will grow thanks to the support of Volkswagen, which already has a good background in electric technology and will be vital in the evolution of the Sant'Agata Bolognese brand. In any case, it must be considered that the electrification of an engine designed to offer great performance without taking much into account consumption is not the same thing as another electrified engine designed to spend less than a lighter, the needs, the objectives and general functioning have many differences.

If we look at the information available, it is possible that the Lamborghini sedan will have a lot in common with the electric Porsche Panamera, a project from which the next Audi A8 and the revamp of the Bentley Mulsanne will also emerge. This means that it will be able to rely on electric technology from Rimac, as with the Porsche Taycan, taking advantage of the ties maintained by both companies and their union to control Bugatti.

However, combustion engines will remain vital in the Italian brand for some years to come. The replacement for the Lamborghini Aventador, for example, will feature a hybrid engine whose combustion part, a V12 block, will be completely new. This car will arrive in 2023 and will be accompanied in 2024 by a hybrid version of the Urus and in 2025 by a hybrid Lamborghini Huracán.

The brand's goal is to halve CO2 emissions and offer only hybrid cars in 2025, paving the way for the first pure electric car in 2028. This electrification will be possible thanks to the largest investment ever made by the brand: 1.5 billion euros during the next four years.
