Porsche Taycan is the newest official safety car in the category
When the strikingly designed Porsche Taycan leaves the pit lane and takes to the track in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, it won't be long before it takes the lead. It turns out that this season, the Zuffenhausen brand's first all-electric sports car will be the new safety car of the new electric single-seater competition. It will debut with the start of the Formula E season on January 28 and 29 in Diriyah (Saudi Arabia).
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S will be little more than the safety vehicle of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Its eye-catching livery, which includes the colors of the eleven teams as well as those of the FIA and the organisation, symbolizes the commitment of all participants to Formula E and the shared path towards the all-electric future of motorsport. At the same time, it reflects social values such as diversity and community. The number 22 is a recognition of the 22 drivers who will compete this season.

With its driveability and stability, as well as its power of up to 761 hp (560 kW), the Taycan Turbo S brings together the best conditions for its important commitment in Formula E. The only all-electric single-seater world championship that is contested in metropolises such as London, Berlin, Mexico City, New York, Monaco and Seoul. The top model of the Taycan range accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds with Launch Control and reaches a top speed of 260 km/h.
To convert the Porsche Taycan Turbo S into a safety car, safety bars and racing seats with six-point belts were installed, as well as cabling for the safety lighting and the Marelli registration system. Safety lights have been integrated into the bumpers. The new workplace of Bruno Correia (Portugal), the veteran Formula E safety car driver, is also equipped with a fire extinguisher and a high-tech communication system. This means that this vehicle meets all the requirements for its use in races as competitive as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
