Design modifications and optimized operation...The new edition of the BMW M8, which is available in three body styles, is particularly popular with additions to the exterior color line and M light alloy wheels. New impetus for the presence of BMW M GmbH in the luxury segment...The BMW M8 Competition Coupe, BMW M8 Competition Cabrio and BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe mark the first position in the BMW M GmbH range, which has a strong presence in the luxury segment with this model series. With their independent body concepts, the top three models each embody an individual expression of typical performance in the prestigious, crowded environment of luxury sports cars.
Their main common feature is the drive and chassis technology designed for an extremely emotional driving experience. A V8 engine with M TwinPowerTurbo technology, which develops a maximum power of 625 hp and a maximum torque of 750 Nm, provides exceptional performance. Due to its typical high-speed M character, the engine develops high torque over wide load ranges, which is optimally placed on the road via an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and the M xDrive all-wheel drive system. Its precise coordination allows for exciting sports driving manoeuvres, such as accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds in the BMW M8 Competition Coupe and BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe, and 3.3 seconds in the BMW M8 Competition Cabrio.
Chassis technology developed with racing experience and adapted to each model guarantees the characteristic harmony of dynamics, agility and precision in the driving behavior of the BMW M in every situation. Experience gained during the development of the BMW M8 GTE racing vehicle was also used.
Eight new exterior colors, debut for M Shadow Line lights...Powerful shapes, generous and elegant surfaces, aerodynamically optimized lines and M-specific design features that fit the functional requirements of a high-performance sports vehicle characterize the unmistakable appearance of the BMW M8 Competition Coupe, BMW M8 Competition Cabrio and BMW M8 Competition Gran. Coupe. The clear surface design of the exterior is now highlighted particularly vividly by the new exterior colors. The BMW Laser Light with adaptive cornering light and dimmed high beam assistant BMW Selective Beam as standard provides optimized visibility in different weather conditions and driving situations. As an option, M Shadow Line lights are now also available for the new high-performance sports car edition. The dark design of the inserts and the chrome elements inside the headlamps, in combination with the high-gloss black frame of the standard BMW kidney grille, contribute to a particularly striking and sporty appearance at the front of the vehicle.
New 20-inch M alloy wheels with star-spoke design...Chassis technology in the new BMW M8 models includes electronically controlled dampers and an electromechanical M Servotronic steering system, as well as an integrated braking system that allows visualization of the characteristics of two pedals. This allows the rider to choose between a comfort-oriented pedal feel and a direct sporty feel. As an alternative to the standard M-compound brake system, an optional M carbon-ceramic brake is available.
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) allows the driver to activate M Dynamic Mode, which allows for greater wheel slip. In combination with the rear-wheel-drive design of the M xDrive system, especially sporty driving maneuvers, including controlled slips, can be experienced. Standard equipment also includes 20-inch M light-alloy wheels shod with high-performance tires in sizes 275/35 R20 at the front and 285/35 R20 at the rear. Other M light alloy wheels in the same shape are available as special equipment, including a new star-spoke design and a two-tone black/grey version.
M Sport seats and M Carbon individual seats in a new leather and Alcantara version...The interior of the new BMW M8 models combines typical M cabin design with modern luxury. The standard BMW Head-Up Display offers M-specific screens. The settings button on the center console allows direct access to settings for the engine, dampers, steering, M xDrive system and brake system. Two versions of the individually created M Setup can be permanently stored along with preferred settings for the driving sound, the gear shift feature, the driving stability control and the Auto Start Stop function. Therefore, they can be accessed by pressing one of the two M buttons on the steering wheel. In addition, the M Mode button on the center console can be used to control driver assistance systems, as well as the instrument cluster screens and the front view screen. ROAD, SPORT and TRACK settings can be selected.
The standard M sports seats also support the intensive driving experience in the high-performance sports vehicle. Optionally available M Carbon bucket seats create an unadulterated racing feel for rider and passenger. With its frame-based design, visible carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) surfaces, integrated headrests, side backrest vents and multi-point seat belt guides, it combines racing functionality with long-distance comfort in a luxurious trip.
