German minister says famous Autobahn have their limits
The Germans highly value their freedom of movement, with no speed limit, on some sections of the local highways. And although there is increasing opposition from those who accuse this behavior of increasing consumption and, therefore, pollution and noise, the reality is that not many German governments are willing to risk being unpopular by imposing speed limits. But there are abuses that can help change this reality.
A Croatian businessman, with more possessions than apparently common sense, decided to use social media to achieve, if not stardom, at least his 5 minutes of fame on a German highway. Specifically, on a stretch with no speed limit. The Croatian took his Chiron and a group of friends to record the “prowess” on video, got behind the wheel, tightened his seat belt and then pressed the right pedal, trusting the work of a series of engineers from the French brand to make so that a monster with 1500 hp, in practice, could approach the 420 km/h advertised as top speed without needing any particular skill, other than pressing the accelerator. And, of course, don't think it's irresponsible to go over 400 km/h, new or old drivers, who just go for a walk or take their children to school.
This exhibition of the Bugatti driver on the “Autobahn” led the German Transport Minister to declare that “all drivers must respect the traffic rules and, just because there are areas where a maximum speed is not posted, that does not mean that you can drive as fast as anyone wants.” The official later concluded that “the legislation prohibits driving dangerously even on an unlimited highway, preventing other users of the public road from being put at risk”.
