ALLISON E HINO TRUCKS FAZEM PARCERIA NAS CLASSES 6, 7 E 8 DE CAMINHÕES BEV PARA PRODUÇÃO EM 2023

Allison Transmission and Hino Trucks sign agreement to manufacture electric trucks

Allison Transmission, a leading designer and manufacturer of conventional, hybrid-electric and all-electric vehicle propulsion solutions, is proud to announce that it has been selected by Hino Trucks as an e-Axle development partner for Class 6, 7 and 8 trucks. Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). The companies signed a strategic and comprehensive Joint Collaboration Agreement (JCA), which is supported by the long partnership that Allison and Hino share in the world of conventional transmissions.

Through this agreement, Hino will initially integrate Allison's eGen Power 100D e-Axle(image above) into its vehicles, while the two companies will invest in developing a truly differentiated product for end users that will begin low-volume production. scheduled for early 2023.

“This is an exciting development as we continue to expand our electrified product portfolio, which confirms our promise to provide the most reliable and valuable propulsion solutions in the world,” said Rohan Barua, Vice President of Sales North America, Allison Transmission Global Channel and Aftermarket. “We are pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with Hino Trucks in providing innovative solutions to our mutual customers. Just as the Allison 2000 and 3000 Series transmissions are the standard transmissions offered on conventional diesel-powered Hino vehicles, the next generation Allison commercial EV (electric vehicle) powertrain will power Hino's BEV trucks, offering the same proven performance, reliability and durability. that the combination of the Hino-Allison brands represents”.

Hino announced Project Z in October 2020, and has been collaborating with Allison ever since to develop bespoke BEV solutions for the North American medium and heavy commercial vehicle markets. Also as part of the work being done with Hino, as well as other customer development partners, Allison is pleased to announce the launch of a new e-Axle product that will be added to the eGen Power family - the eGen Power 100S.

The eGen Power 100S incorporates many of the key components offered in the eGen Power 100D and brings all of these widely proven elements together in a lighter, more compact design best suited for Class 6 and 7 vehicles, plus a tandem configuration (two axles) for vehicles. class 8 with 6x4 configuration. Under the terms of the JCA, Hino will be the first global manufacturer to integrate the eGen Power 100S, securing a partnership that spans vehicles from Class 6 to Class 8.

“We are pleased to formalize our collaboration with Allison on the integration of their eGen Power electric axles into Hino's Class 6, 7 and 8 BEV lineup,” says Glenn Ellis, Senior Vice President Customer Experience at Hino Trucks. “It is especially exciting to be the first manufacturer to feature the eGen Power 100S in our Class 6 and 7 BEV trucks, which represents a critical element of our Project Z, which is part of the Path to Zero initiative we announced last year. Whether it's our conventional diesel-powered products or our next-generation electric propulsion platforms, our mutual customers expect reliable and durable solutions from the partnership between Hino and Allison. I am confident that we will continue to deliver on that promise.”

The eGen Power 100S complements the eGen Power 100D and eGen Power 130D, expanding Allison's e-Axle portfolio to cover a variety of medium and heavy commercial vehicle applications. Single or twin engines are respectively integrated into a multi-speed transmission, eliminating the need for additional drive shafts and support structures. With each engine capable of delivering 284 hp (212 kilowatts) continuous power and 434 hp (324 kilowatts) peak power output, the eGen Power 100S, 100D and 130D are among the most powerful propulsion solutions in their class. .

The architecture has been tuned to ensure high starting capability on steep slopes and high top speed without sacrificing efficiency, maximizing vehicle range and minimizing downtime while charging the battery. In addition, the eGen Power family of products has been designed with our customers' fleets in mind. eGen Power e-axles are designed to be 100% maintenance free for the life of the vehicle, significantly reducing downtime and increasing the total cost of ownership advantage of eGen Power.
