MUSTANG SHELBY GT500KR

The year 2022 is approaching, and with it the 60th anniversary of Shelby American. That's why the American company didn't want to pass up the opportunity to present its new GT500KR. Based on the Mustang GT500, this third-generation Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR 2022 is known as the ‘King of the Road’.

The GT500KR package costs $54,995 and can be applied to any GT500 2020-2022. Shelby will begin accepting orders on February 1st. However, the first production copy will be auctioned in Scottsdale, by the Barrett-Jackson house, on January 29th. Proceeds will go to the Carroll Shelby Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.

Shelby American's latest creation is simply imposing. On the front, the model displays a series of carbon fiber components. These include a hood, a front splitter, a rear diffuser and a Gurney flap. Buyers can also equip a variety of stripe types, many Shelby insignia and an extended body kit.

No less eye-catching are the 20-inch wheels and the biblically proportioned airfoil. At the rear, the sports exhaust system with four outlets gives the ensemble a musical note. Leather seats, embroidered mats and a numbered plate for the dashboard are offered for the interior. Optionally, the rear seats can be replaced with a safety bar.

On a technical level, the GT500KR was equipped with certain elements. These include high-performance axle shafts, height-adjustable shock absorbers, Ford Performance stabilizer bars and a recalibrated MagneRide suspension. The model also features caster wheel tilt plates, hardened wheel bolts and performance-spec tires.

The icing on the cake is the refinishing of the 5.2 liter V8 engine. It was equipped with a 3.8 liter Whipple supercharger, an intercooler, a heat exchanger, a cold air intake and a Borla signature catback exhaust. Thanks to the modifications, it develops 913 hp, almost 200 hp more than the already mighty Mustang GT500.
