LEXUS
Finally, the new Lexus LX 2022 was introduced.
The new generation of the unmistakable luxury 4x4 is here and brings important news. The renovation undergone by the model was total. He is destined to play a leading role in North America.
Considering that the new Toyota Land Cruiser won't be sold in the United States, it's logical to put all eyes on the new Lexus LX. Furthermore, the two are closely related. After more than a decade of commercial journey, the LX line generation change arrived.
As for the changes in the look of the LX, the truth is that you only need to take a quick look at the images to discover what the new features are characteristic of the exterior design. In addition, we can also use these differentiating details to make a comparison with the mentioned Toyota model. The side view brings out the fact that the new LX is tightly connected to the Land Cruiser.
It's at the front where the new LX exudes a personality of its own. It has a huge grid that directly connects the optical groups with LED technology and a characteristic luminous signature. Also worth mentioning are the air intakes and the bumper. At the rear, as we've seen in official advances, the headlamps are joined together to enhance the feeling of width. In addition, the rear bumper has bulky protections.
It is also important to highlight the free height of the body in relation to the ground and the roof bars, as these details are key for the new LX to offer an adventurous air and solvency far from the asphalt of the big city. In addition, another novelty that lands on the line is the F-Sport finish that has, among other things, 22-inch alloy wheels. This is more than just a styling package, as it equips the vehicle with a Torsen-signed limited slip differential. All this with a pertinently tuned suspension and steering.
As for the interior of the new LX, we are surrounded by a luxurious, warm and comfortable environment. The nerve center of the cabin is a dual screen system, a 12.3-inch upper and a 7.0-inch lower. The first is intended for the infotainment system, while the second is intended to provide quick access to the climate control and support the Multi-Terrain Select system.
At this point, it is important to note that the new LX is supported by the GA-F platform, a version of Toyota's TNGA architecture. The platform change was essential to reduce the vehicle's weight by 200 kg. The new aluminum doors were also decisive. In addition to reducing weight, the manufacturer points out that the torsional rigidity has been increased, so that we are facing a more efficient and safer vehicle.
Depending on the trim level configured, there will be more or less seats inside. This is because in the cabin of the new LX can travel up to seven adult passengers in a 2 3 2 layout. However, there will also be versions with five (2 3) and four (2 2) seats.
As far as the mechanics are concerned, there are no surprises. We must consider that in the months prior to its presentation, there was a lot of speculation about the possibility that the Lexus model could undergo an engine change and there was even a bet on electrification. In the end, if we look under the hood, we will see that the V8 engine has disappeared.
The new generation LX is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 Twin-Turbo petrol engine that develops an output of 415 hp (409 hp) and 649 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 4x4 traction system.
Upon arrival at dealerships, the order book for the new LX will be opened in the US almost immediately. The model is expected to land at Lexus dealers in the first quarter of 2022. As the launch date approaches, the brand will provide the rest of the details, such as the composition of the line, its equipment and prices.
