AUTONEWS

Toyota GR Supra ''Paul Walker''

It's been almost 8 years since Paul Walker passed away, but he is still very present among motorsport aficionados and the best action cinema. So it is not strange that he is remembered from time to time with heartfelt tributes. Like this special Toyota GR Supra that has just been presented in Japan. A job done by the trainer TOM’S Racing, a real expert on this model, in partnership with the Japanese magazine Safari.

The reasons for this project are clear: the actor was a big fan of the Toyota Supra A80. And, in addition to leading him in the 'Fast and the Furious' saga, he owned several of these sports cars from the 90s. Including a white one, which inspired the matte paintwork of this color that appears in the photos of this limited edition of his successor (albeit 17 years ago). away), the A90.

The rest of the modifications are aimed precisely at increasing the 'vintage' feeling. Like a classic Supra-inspired rear wing, plus the iconic 20-inch LM wheels signed by BBS, the same ones that outfitted the car that your character, Brian O'Conner, drove in his last scene, within the seventh delivery.

But it's not just a simple nostalgic exercise that tries to convert a current car into something from two decades ago. Is that TOM’S Racing also carried out mechanical modifications, which take the 3.0 inline 6-cylinder engine up to 426 hp. That is, almost 90 hp more than the version offered by Toyota on the market, and 39 hp more than the more powerful editions.

In addition, a KW V3 coilover suspension was installed. Y, although we don't have pictures of the interior, according to Safari, the leather seats have been replaced with bucket-style ones, and carbon fiber inserts have been added to the center console and door panels. Everything, say those responsible for it, to answer a question: “If Paul could customize a GR Supra today, how would he do it?”.

In total, TOM’S Racing will produce three units. And each will cost 12.97 million yen
