Yaris Cross, who makes 30.8 km/l of gasoline makes his debut in Japan

While Toyota do Brasil keeps the secret about its future SUV in Brazil, Toyota of Japan revealed on Monday (31) the details and prices of the new Yaris Cross. The car is a compact SUV that hits the Japanese market with two engine options. The first is conventional and uses a 1.5 hp turbo engine with 120 hp with CVT direct shift (like the new national Corolla). The second uses a hybrid system, also with a 1.5 engine, offering 116 hp of combined power.
In Japan, the car will have three trim versions. The Yaris Cross 1.5 turbo starts from R$ 93,000(local currency) with front wheel drive and R$ 105 thousand(local currency) with 4x4 wheel drive. The hybrid starts from R$ 118 thousand(local currency) with front-wheel drive and R$ 130 thousand(local currency) with 4x4 (called E-Four). In the 4x2 configuration, the Yaris Cross is capable of making 30.8 km / l of gasoline. Yaris Cross uses the same platform as the European Yaris hatchback (GA-B).



The brand new Toyota Yaris Cross is 4,180 m long, 1,765 m wide, 1,560 m high and 2,560 m between wheelbases. The trunk has a capacity of 390 liters. It would be a surprise if this were Toyota's new SUV for the Brazilian market - the main chips are being bet on the Corolla Cross, unveiled this year in Thailand. However, the SUV paradigm is changing and more compact than average models are emerging.



The design of Yaris Cross had already been revealed this year and is more updated than that of the national Yaris. Contrary to what happened with the C-HR, in this car Toyota was very conservative in appearance. Inside, the car is also as simple as possible, but it seems to be very functional. The multimedia display is quite large, following the current trend. The instrument panel maintains the analog display. Depending on the version, it comes with a lot of safety equipment, such as collision alert and Head Up Display. At least for now, the Yaris Cross will not have a GR-S (Gazoo Racing Sport) version, but Toyota offers several vehicle customization accessories.
