TESLA

Dominant brand in the electrified automotive market

In August, 470 new battery electric vehicles and 882 plug-in hybrids (PHEV) were purchased, placing the total of rechargeable models in the 1352 units. In the accumulated result for the year, vehicles capable of storing energy from the electricity grid now represent 11% of the total models traded.
Among the 100% electric vehicles, Tesla led the demand, selling 133 new cars, more than double that of Renault, second in the ranking. With this performance at the peak of the holiday period, the American brand jumped to the leadership of the Portuguese market from January to August, with 857 units. A surprising performance because Tesla is concentrated in the North American market, reserving the "regularization" of the European market, including Portuguese, when the Gigafactory in Berlin starts production in 2021.
In the ranking of trams Renault was the second in sales, with 62 units, ahead of Peugeot with 55, Nissan with 31 and Hyundai with 21. In the accumulated of 2020 Tesla is first, followed by Nissan with 788 vehicles traded and Renault with 769. The next two places in the top 5 are occupied by Peugeot (with 483) and Smart (306).
Among the PHEVs, it is worth mentioning the good performance of Mercedes, which placed 346 new vehicles on the market, ahead of Volvo, with 176, BMW (141), Porsche (50) and Peugeot (42). In the first eight months of the year, Mercedes leads, with 1588 PHEV vehicles, ahead of BMW (1354), Volvo (1115), Peugeot (283) and Porsche (263).
