TOUAREG V8 TDI: The last of the mohawks

Times are changing and big displacement engines are disappearing little by little in an industry forced to comply with the strict emission standard. Something that is happening especially with diesel engines. This is the case with the Volkswagen V8 TDI block, which after a little more than a year has passed since its presentation in the current Touareg, will now bid farewell to the German SUV line, but will do so with a final farewell in the form of a limited edition called Touareg V8 Last Edition and which can be enjoyed exclusively by customers in Germany.
This special edition will be limited to only 400 units and will feature the same basic equipment as an R-Line and some special props, thus featuring a shiny black rear panel, door diffuser and door handles and a 'Last Edition' emblem. present on the B-pillars next to the serial number within the 400 copies that will arrive. These details will be combined with a body that can be in Pure White, Malbec Red, Silicon Gray, Antimony Silver, Deep Black Pearl and Oryx White Pearl.
Optionally, this version will have a package that will also add LED headlights, the modern Innovision Cockpit, an adaptive chassis and Suzuka wheels in black and 21 inches.
The mechanical part obviously has a clear protagonist: the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine that generates 421 hp of power and a torque of 900 Nm, which are sent to the four wheels through the 4Motion total traction system and an eight-speed automatic transmission. With these ingredients, the last Touareg with a V8 engine will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed limited to 250 km / h.
The Volkswagen Touareg V8 Last Edition will be offered exclusively in Germany at a price of 104,361 euros, where it will be available from 17 August.
The definitive departure of the Volkswagen Touareg V8 TDI will leave the newly landed Volkswagen Touareg R with its plug-in hybrid mechanics that combines a 3.0-liter TSI V6 petrol engine and an electric motor as the spearhead of the large SUV range from Volkswagen to offer 462 hp of power and 700 Nm of torque.
