DELAGE

The brand's new single-seater has DNA F1

It is very likely that many are not familiar with the Delage brand, but in the early 20th century, when brands like Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Mercedes-Benz dominated the world of luxury cars, this French brand managed to find its place including leaving a brilliant track record in competitions, which includes a victory in the Indianapolis 500, several Grand Prix victories and many other records at the time.
However, with the arrival of the 50's and the company ended its activities and for almost 70 years its name had disappeared from the automobile world, until now. Because Delage is back and in addition with a spectacular super sports hybrid called D12, which arrives with an ultramodern design inspired in fact by the Formula 1 single-seater and fighter jet aircraft.

The Delage D12 has a single-seat profile with a cabin that opens like a fighter and that actually hides two seats arranged one behind the other. A formula already seen in other models, but added to this, for example, a front part that inevitably resembles an F1, with an elaborate front spoiler and a nose finished in a point (which displays a transparent part that allows you to see its suspension), but on this occasion it merges with wheel arches that hide the tires and house their headlights.

Of course, there is no lack of a rear spoiler, large side air intakes, carbon wheels, a huge rear diffuser and other details.
Likewise spectacular is its interior, which has an almost airplane steering wheel with two joysticks flanked by up to three digital screens, in addition to lightweight carbon fiber bucket seats.

However, if it is already aesthetically striking, its mechanics are not far behind. The Delage D12 will have two versions called GT and Club. Both have a French-made aspirated 7.6-liter V12 engine with 1,004 hp, which is accompanied by an electric motor and an eight-speed automatic transmission. In the case of the GT, the electric motor provides an extra 112 hp, while in the Club it will be a more compact engine of only 20 hp, intended mainly to assist in day-to-day maneuvers in starting up traffic, parking and reversing.

In this way the Delage D12 Club will have a total of 1,024 hp of combined power, less in the Club, but it compensates with a smaller weight (90 kg less) that is 1,310 kg. This will make this version more interesting to make faster times on the track (in fact, they emphasize that their goal is to beat the Nürburgring record), while the GT will offer the best acceleration with a total power of 1,100 hp.
The Delage D12 is scheduled to start production in 2021 and in its development, names such as Jacques Villeneuve and technical director Benoit Bagur, twice FIA WTCR Champion, are collaborating. A total of 30 copies will be built at a price of around 2 million euros.
