Model PSE replaces GTI
For some time now, Peugeot has been making fans curious with its announced sporty PSE label. During a press launch, German media received new information that would show that PSE can indeed replace GTi.
The new Peugeot Sport Enigeered (PSE) would, according to the German Auto-Media Portal replaced the historic GTI branch within the Peugeot portfolio. With that, that iconic label would disappear after about forty years. Peugeot would come to this decision due to the changing demand for cars. At PSE, electrified models are given a sporty look. Peugeot introduced these three new letters with the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered Concept: a 400 hp strong 508 plug-in hybrid. In the meantime, no definitive serial product of that concept model has been published, although we were already presented with images of a production-ready-looking version. That car would be on the roll before the beginning of 2021. Small siding: according to Auto-Media Portal this first PSE does not get 400, but ‘only’ 370 hp.
The Germans also argue that this is certainly not the only PSE model that we can expect in the short term. Peugeot would be busy with various other models. For example, they talk about the arrival of a 208 and 2008 PSE and the 308 and 3008 are topped with a PSE sauce. It is said that the 208 and 2008 are the all-electric versions, while the 308 and 3008 are hybrids.
CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato said earlier during an interview that GTI enthusiasts need not worry, but that statement now seems to have been debunked. Time will tell who is right.
