TESLA

Company significantly reduces cost of US Model Y electric crossover

Tesla's newest electric car, from the point of view of the duration of its presence in the market, is the Model Y - a small crossover, which is still offered in two versions: Long Range with an increased power reserve and Performance with dynamic characteristics improved. As of now, the base version of the Tesla Model Y becomes more than $6000 cheaper.
Having started delivering the Model Y only in March, Tesla found an opportunity to reduce the cost of an electric crossover for new customers this month. The basic version with two electric motors and four-wheel drive is now valued at $42,990, instead of the previous $49,990. The Y model crossover and the Model 3 sedan now differ in price, although until recently the difference exceeded the value, depending on the configuration.
For the Tesla Model Y Performance version, the Performance Package was previously offered for an extra fee, which included increasing the top speed from 216 to 248 km/h, reinforced brakes, specially designed 21-inch wheels, reduced ground clearance and aluminum alloy pedals. From now on, all of this will be available to Tesla Model Y customers in the performance specification already in the database, for $49,990.
The Tesla Model 3 sedan received lower price tags at the end of May this year, the base version just got more affordable. Tesla's price adjustment for electric cars in some cases should be subject to several government subsidies, but the current price reduction for Model Y is unlikely to be part of that initiative. As production volumes increase, the cost of the electric car is expected to decline, Tesla is trying to balance itself at a level that maintains profitability, but at the same time, attracts more customers. Like Model 3, the intersection of Model Y is expected to become a mass model, whose sales will form a significant part of the company's revenue.
