MOTO GP

FINALLY, QUARTARARO!

MotoGP finally kicked off in 2020 with the official Yamaha of Rossi, Viñales and Quartararo to line up for the first time with the starter equipment, Akashi’s home joining the Ducati and Suzuki who already used it.
The 25-lap MotoGP started with Viñales leading, followed by Miller who went wide and was passed by Márquez.
Quartararo, out of pole, was as follows, but with the added interest of the excellent start of both Ducati, the Pramac of Bagnaia and the official of Dovizioso, who placed 4th and 5th at the start, Bagnaia even passing Quartararo, who recovered soon after.
Pol Espargaró in 7th did what he could, followed by Binder and Morbidelli and Rossi, with Joan Mir, who would have to defend Suzuki's honor against absent Rins, to fall soon after, and Crutchlow also missing the race due to injury.
Three laps covered, Aleix Espargaró's Aprilia left the race and it was Márquez to lead, but Viñales responds and returns to the command, the two exchanging positions several times throughout the lap, until Márquez exaggerates and in one of his epic recoveries, avoids the fall on Curve 4 but is now 18th!
Miller is momentarily second, but Quartararo is already here, and Oliveira appears in 9th, second KTM after Espargaró in 6th.
Petrucci also enters the Top 10, where Rossi is being reached by Oliveira for 8th, while Márquez has recovered to 12th…
Viñales, who was the only one to choose a soft front, seems to have run out of tires and is in trouble… on the 9th lap he is passed by Quartararo and Miller, when Marc Márquez follows Oliveira in 10th, 0.8 from the KTM Portuguese…
Petrucci and Lecuona and Zarco come in the next group, and with 10 laps, they still aspire to enter the Top 10, where in the meantime Márquez is already 8th but Oliveira keeps 9th because Rossi has dropped his performance…
Miller is keeping his tires within 3.2 seconds of Quartararo, with time in 8 laps to make his move if the Frenchman starts to have tire problems.
Márquez, meanwhile, passes Bagnaia and Morbidelli in so many other corners and has the pace to reach the podium again ... Rossi pulls up with a presumed breakdown, and Márquez is even reaching the podium!
Was it today that Quartararo would make his debut in the victories? Did Miller have the game under control? Or could Márquez, coming from behind, do the impossible?
None of these! Viñales, his tires rested a few laps, returns to the attack, Márquez attacks Miller for third, but it is Dovizioso who inherits the place when Márquez is violently spat and hit by his own bike!
This leaves Dovi, Miller, Espargaró and Morbidelli to fight for the podium, everything else, including Oliveira, now eighth, that is, about to match his best of last year right after the first race, more than 13 seconds.
We are on the last lap, Quartararo has a 4.6 second advantage and wins! Márquez comes out on a stretcher and grabs a shoulder and looks hurt ... In 8th, Oliveira is the 2nd KTM behind Espargaró's 6th, equaling his best ever in the class!
