MG
DETAILS OF THE BRAND NEW SUV
Production of the new SUV from MG has already started a few weeks ago. The iconic British brand continues its expansion into the Indian market, a roadmap that includes the introduction of a long list of new models. The last to enter the scene was the MG Hector Plus, an interesting alternative to the successful MG Hector that already has a certain commercial path in India.
After its debut a few months ago at the New Delhi 2020 Show, everything is ready to start marketing. As previously highlighted, it is already being produced and the assembly of this model will be carried out in Indian territory, more specifically at the SAIC plant (owner of Morris Garage) in Halol. Ali shares facilities with the mentioned Hector.
As the name of these two models indicates, there is a clear relationship between them. The MG Hector emanates from a Chinese SUV, the Baojun 530, which is available in five, six and seven seat configurations. However, MG has chosen to offer it in India exclusively with five seats. This is where the new Hector Plus comes into play, which although it could be integrated as another version of the Hector line, it was decided to offer it as a separate model.
Aesthetically it is quickly identifiable. It has a large screen where the MG brand is the protagonist. The optical groups are divided into two groups. The upper part acts as lights for daytime circulation. The optics have LED technology.
MG chose to offer the new Hector Plus with only six seats in a 2 + 2 + 3 layout. The idea is none other than accentuating its characteristics as a spacious, comfortable, efficient and safe vehicle, to differentiate itself from those that will be its main rivals. Regarding the interior, we are surrounded by an elegant environment, where the upholstery was taken care of.
With regard to safety equipment, it has the eCall emergency call system, 360 degree vision camera, front and rear parking sensors, six airbags, ramp start assistant, tire pressure sensor, ABS, EBD, ESP and TCS.
Moving on to the mechanics, the truth is that there are no surprises. The new Hector Plus uses the same engines as the Hector line. It consists of two gasoline engines (one electrified with soft hybrid technology) and one diesel. Depending on the engine chosen, a manual or automatic transmission appears. All versions are front-wheel drive.
