GREAT WALL

The Asian Ford Bronco, more precisely from China

The SUV segment has been eclipsed this past month due to the resurgence of the all-terrain icon: the Ford Bronco. The most direct rival of the Jeep Wrangler arrived to make things very difficult for his countryman, although he also served as inspiration for the Chinese manufacturer WEY, which has just presented a 4x4 that resembles both the Ford model and the Wrangler.
WEY is one of the brands of the Chinese giant Great Wall, with which the company says it focuses on the development and sale of ‘Premium models’. The Chinese public knew it until now as Project 01, but it has already arrived in its definitive form and now adopts the name of WEY Tank 300. Unfortunately, the Chinese manufacturer only showed the images of his new creation and that means they do not yet know each other. specifications and more technical details.

What we do know is that this all-terrain vehicle, like the aforementioned Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco, is built on a traditional chassis made up of side members and crossbars, so it is clearly focused on off-road use. This platform comes from another Chinese 4x4 called Haval H9, so it is not surprising that it also shares its thrusters to save costs. On the one hand, there is a turbocharged 4-cylinder and 2.0-liter engine that develops 225 hp, and on the other, a turbodiesel propeller with 190 hp.

Everything indicates that the person in charge of transferring the energy to the ground is a nine-speed automatic transmission that goes associated with a reduced four-wheel drive system. In addition, the Tank 300 has a front, center and rear differential, all with lock, as well as a selector that allows you to choose between nine driving modes, most of them focused on off-road driving.
Aesthetically it resembles the Ford Bronco a lot if we focus on the front, with prominent LED headlights and a raised bumper, while the rear seems to be inspired by the Jeep Wrangler, with the spare wheel on the rear cover. Regarding the interior, it is inevitable to remember Mercedes-Benz, since the design is very similar to the panel used by the current models of the German brand, with two large digital screens joined and round air intakes.

Chinese manufacturer's plans include introducing the WEY Tank 300 to the Chinese market later this year and for the time being the company does not talk about exporting it to Western markets. But perhaps in the future they may change their minds.
