FORTUNER 2021 arrives with technical and aesthetic
Update this week happened the presentation of the new Toyota Hilux 2021. A major renovation for the popular pick-up of the Japanese brand that is characterized by a huge evolution both aesthetically and technically and that includes the debut of a new 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine that delivers 204 hp.
Although it is little known here, the truth is that the Hilux has a brother SUV and still 7 seats, the Toyota Fortuner. These models have always shared the robust spar chassis on which the pick-up is based, as well as its mechanics and transmissions. Hence, both can count on similar skills and performance off the asphalt. So it's no surprise that, coinciding with the release of the new Toyota Hilux, the brand has decided to reveal the new update of Fortuner, which since 2015 is in its second generation.
This update of the Toyota Fortuner 2021 did not go as deep as that of the new Hilux 2021, although it means a large number of changes to the 7-seater SUV. On the front part comes a slightly tapered nose that debuts new grille of larger size with a new screen of black tone, in addition to slightly modified headlights and new shapes for the bumper, with new frames and air intakes. As usual in mid-life upgrades, fewer changes occur on the sides and rear, as is the case with the new wheels, some touch-ups on the side skirts and rear bumper, as well as new taillights.
In terms of chassis there are not many modifications, but at a mechanical level yes, because the new Fortuner 2021 will also feature the new 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine that has just debuted at the Hilux 2021 and that delivers 204 hp and 500 Nm of maximum torque. This means 27 hp and 50 Nm of torque more than the previous model.
At the technological level there are novelties in the infotainment system, which in addition to debuting the latest tools and connectivity applications of the Japanese brand, will also be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay systems. In addition, new finishes and materials for the Fortuner 2021 line appear in the passenger compartment, which will be available in Australia and other Asian markets from next August.
