TOYOTA

COROLLA SPORT: THE SPORT COMPACT WILL HAVE 270 CV AND WHEEL

The Japanese brand is ready to take on the Hyundai i30 N and Volkswagen Golf GTI, with a more radical version of the Toyota Corolla Sport, which will carry the surname GRMN.
The rumors of a Toyota Corolla Sport GRMN appear more and more strongly and although the company has not made official whether this sports version of the Japanese compact received the green light for its development, the first details about this interesting proposal have already begun to emerge.
According to the Japanese specialized press, the Toyota Corolla Sport GRMN is in an advanced stage of development and will be ready to hit the market during the next semester. The same source indicates that the compact sports car will use an all-wheel drive system, with a rear axle that will use Toyota's 'GR-Four' 4WD control system, used by the GR Yaris.
It will be equipped with a 1.6-liter engine, a 3-cylinder turbo block that will develop 270 horsepower and 370 Nm of maximum torque, that is, the same engine used in the GR Yaris. It will be coupled to a six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive.

The first predictions indicated that this sports version of the Toyota Corolla would be presented at the end of this year 2020, but due to the problems related to the COVID-19, the truth is that its launch could be postponed some months. However, this new sports compact from Toyota will be available in a number of markets throughout the next year 2021.
