TESLA

Company partner is ready to start producing batteries with a resource of almost 2 million kilometers

One of Tesla's partners and suppliers, Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd. (CATL) announced its availability to start production of batteries for electric vehicles designed for a total mileage of 1.2 million miles (1.9 million km) or 16 years of service.
"If someone places an order, we are ready to fulfill it," said Zeng Yuqun, president of CATL, China's largest manufacturer of fuel cells and batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage systems, in an interview with Bloomberg. The only problem at the moment is that these CATL batteries will cost about 10% more than the batteries currently on the market. Tesla batteries are now warranted for eight years or 241,000 miles.
Although Tesla signed an agreement with CATL on the use of its batteries in Tesla Model 3 electric vehicles made in China in February, there is no report on how long this will be completed. Before that, Tesla relied on batteries from Panasonic and LG.
According to the head of CATL, Tesla CEO Elon Musk visited his company to personally convince him of the existence of a new type of battery.
Tesla was expected to hold the Battery Day event in late May, in which it would announce a new type of battery and many other improvements, but it did not. In mid-May, Musk postponed the event's date until next month and it is not yet clear when this event will take place.
