Chevrolet offering upgraded 570 HP LS V8 crate engine

Looking for a suitable V8 for your current project car? Or are you planning to restomod a classic Chevrolet with a modern eight-cylinder? There is one engine that could solve that conundrum, a Chevy LS.
First debuting in the fifth-generation Corvette (dubbed C5), this all-aluminum plant quickly became the go-to engine for those that need V8 power in a relatively compact package. And despite the many LS engines cropping up since, enthusiasts simply nicknamed each one as an 'LS'.
Now, the bow-tie brand is offering one of its most powerful LS engines to date called the 'LS427'. Displacing 427 cubic inches (or 7.0-liters), the new LS427 is essentially an upgraded version of the LS7 that first debuted in the Corvette C6 Z06. While it may be similar in size to the LS7, the LS427 offers more horsepower and torque, along with a simpler wet-sump oiling system for easier installation.
The LS427 offers race-bred performance thanks to a higher-lift camshaft made specifically for this particular engine. Instead of just producing 505 PS and 637 Nm of torque, the LS427 cranks out more with 570 PS and 732 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the wet-sump oiling system eliminates the need to have a separate oil tank, oil lines, and other auxiliary components that are originally found in the LS7.
Other key upgrades that are present on the LS427 include high-rate valve springs, fifth-gen Camaro Z/28 exhaust manifolds, low-profile EFI intake manifold with fuel rails, injectors and throttle body, forged steel crankshaft, titanium connecting rods, CNC-ported cylinder heads with 2.20-inch titanium intake valves and 1.61-inch sodium-filled exhaust valves, and a Camaro Z/28 derived manual transmission flywheel.
If you're still struggling to find a high-performance V8 that can power your project car or restomod muscle car, perhaps the LS427 will suffice your needs. With over 550 horsepower and 730 Nm of pull available on tap, this V8 has more than enough muscle to get your project moving.
