FOCUS ECOBOOST HYBRID 2021 REACHES EUROPE
Ford announced its electrification plans a few months ago, in which Mild-Hybrid technology will be of great importance. In Europe, models like Kuga, Puma and Fiesta already have alternatives of this type in their mechanical lines, and now the Ford Focus EcoBoost Hybrid 2021 is added to the family.
The popular compact limits itself to adopting the versions we have already seen in its brothers, using the 1.0 EcoBoost gasoline engine as a base and adding to it a 48-volt electrical system with a battery located under the co-pilot seat and a starter engine / integrated, belt driven generator (BISG) that replaces the traditional alternator.
As usual, this configuration allows the electric motor to be in charge of supplying energy to the electrical components, supporting the combustion block with additional torque and, thanks to the Stop-in-Gear function, navigating with the gasoline engine off from 15 , 20 or 25 km / h, when the car approaches a stop and even continue to move with the clutch stepped on.
All of this, added to the cylinder deactivation system, allows to reduce the consumption and emissions of the model. In the case of the 125 hp version the brand did not provide data, but in the upper 155 hp version, it homologates 19.6 km / l and 115 g / km of CO2, according to the WLTP cycle.
Although the arrival of the Ford Focus EcoBoost Hybrid 2021 is the most relevant addition to the compact line, it is not the only novelty that the brand introduces.
On the other hand, the finishing line expands with Trend +, whose endowment is formed, among other elements, by the Ford SYNC 3 with voice recognition, 8.0 inch touch screen and the wireless charger for mobile devices.
