BOSCH

Company launches emergency response system for motorcycles

Bosch has introduced the new Emergency Alert System help Connect, which automatically asks for help in the event of a traffic accident. Unlike similar systems used in automobiles, Help Connect is designed for motorcycles.
A press release published on the Bosch website says that " the risk of dying in an accident for motorcyclists is 20 times higher than that of motorcyclists,” and the faster a motorcyclist who engages in an accident gets the right medical attention, the greater their chances of survival.
Help Connect uses a dedicated sensor, which is part of the Bosch MSC-Electronic Stability Program for motorcycles. The sensor reads the acceleration of the motorcycle a hundred times per second, as well as the angular speed of its wheels, transmitting information to Help Connect about the current position of the vehicle relative to the road plane, as well as the angle of inclination.
The system also has data from the collision algorithm built into the sensor.
It is allowed to determine whether the motorcycle really suffered an accident or simply fell. If Help Connect detects an accident, it sends the incident data to the Bosch service center. In case of a serious accident, The Specialists of the service center will be able to determine the location of the motorcyclist by phone, and then call the rescue service on the spot.
Initially, the motorcycle alert system help Connect will be available in Germany, in the domestic market of the company. As the Autoblog feature indicates, later the company plans to make this system available in other countries.
