M5 2021: THE GERMAN SPORTING SEDAN HAS BEEN UPDATED

The new BMW M5 2021 has just arrived, the latest and most recent representative in the long and fruitful history of the BMW M5. The sports sedan par excellence has undergone an important update with which BMW seeks to increase its attractiveness after a few years on sale. A renovation that, of course, follows the steps seen in the BMW 5 Series 2021, which debuted at the end of last May.
As you can see in the images, the M5 2021 borrows the headlights of the facelift of the Series 5, which still feature daylights with a new design. There are also changes in the appearance of the front grille and the bumper, which now has a slightly more aggressive image thanks to the larger side air intakes. Some elements may adopt a black tint, increasing its dynamism, with headlights being the main novelty in this regard.

At the rear, there is a slightly different diffuser and LED taillights that adopt a three-dimensional design while retaining the typical BMW 'L' shape. The side view highlights mainly the addition of the BMW M8's 20-inch wheels to the catalog of optional elements. Finally, there are novelties in exterior colors, with unprecedented shades such as: Brands Hatch gray, Motegi red, metallized Tanzanite II blue, metallized Aventurine II and frosted metallized Frozen Bluestone (these last three from BMW Individual).

Where there are not many changes is in the cabin, where the main novelties are concentrated on the updated infotainment system, which now has a 12.3 inch screen, larger than before, being compatible with Apple CarPlay and Adroid Auto. Another novelty in this part is the addition of two new buttons on the center console, inherited from the M8, which allow you to adjust driving modes more quickly and comfortably.

In terms of chassis, the engineers at BMW M GmbH adjusted the set's settings, including, for example, shock absorbers from the BMW M8 Gran Coupe. As before, the new BMW M5 has a normal version and an even more powerful and higher performance version, called the BMW M5 Competition 2021. Both maintain the 4.4 V8 biturbo engine with the performance data they had so far, with 600 cv for the M5 and 625 cv for the M5 Competition.
An engine that combines exclusively with an 8-speed automatic transmission and the M xDrive drive system. Thanks to this, the BMW M5 accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.4 seconds and reaches 200 km / h in just 11.1 seconds. The BMW M5 Competition, for its part, reaches 100 km / h in 3.3 seconds and 200 km / h in 10.8 seconds.
