Company launches bus o500 more powerful and with larger PTB

Mercedes-Benz has just released novelties for its road bus line the 500. The models O500 RSD and O500 RSDD gained engine option with power of 430 hp from 1,900 rpm and touch of 214 mkgf from 1,100 rpm. The new configuration becomes the third of the "family" OM 457 LA, offered in Brazil until then with 360 hp and 408 HP.
The increase in power is the result of a reprogramming of the electronic engine management modules. Launched in 2003, the OM 457 LA has six in-line cylinders, 12 liters, turbo and intercooler. It is the same propeller that equips the mechanical horse Axor 2544.
Director of sales and marketing of buses at Mercedes-Benz do Brasil, Walter Barbosa says the novelty meets a market demand. "The fleet wanted a more powerful engine. This release ensures greater efficiency in operation, especially for the DD (Double Decker) and HD (High Decker) models of 14 and 15 meters."
There will be three transmission options
DD is aimed at mixed applications. Its two floors are intended exclusively for passengers. The beds are on the bottom and the business class on the top.
In HD, in turn, the ceiling is high. The lower area is reserved to accommodate luggage and other types of cargo. The seats are at the top.
The new engine option will equip the models the 500 RSD 2443 6×2 and the 500 RSDD 2743 8×2. Unpublished, these buses are intended for medium and long distance road operations. The focus is the area of luxury tourism.
