MERCEDES GLE IN THE WAVE OF NEW MOBILITY
The so-called 'new mobility', which will be a reality in a few short years, will change everything in certain areas of the auto industry. Connectivity and technologies related to autonomous driving will change our habits and the way we travel around the big cities. Mercedes-Benz is aware of what is on the horizon and introduced a new concept car. The new Mercedes-Benz ESF 2019 comes on the scene with the great aim of showing the world what have been the most important advances of the star brand in terms of safety. For its creation was taken as starting point a Mercedes-Benz GLE. More specifically, the hybrid plug-in version of the all-terrain German brand. The result draws attention, just take a look at the images.
This experimental vehicle is equipped with a long list of systems and safety solutions that in the not too distant future will be applied in production models. However, other technologies look beyond the horizon, since the company itself simply emphasizes that they are close to production.
It is striking that we are not facing a conventional Mercedes-Benz GLE. What's more, it looks more like what you would expect from a futuristic road safety vehicle. It is equipped with several digital surfaces that allow you to project messages and useful information and which in turn transmit greater safety to the rest of the drivers. From the notification of maneuvers that the vehicle will carry out while driving in autonomous mode, until you realize safety warnings. It can also alert pedestrians and cyclists of imminent dangers. Among its equipment comes the Mercedes-Benz Digital Light system, which offers spare lighting without risk of causing glare to the rest of the track drivers. Another of the most striking features is a small robot that takes the form of the characteristic safety triangle to notify other vehicles that there is a broken or damaged car. On the roof of the Mercedes-Benz ESF Concept also comes an additional triangle to provide greater visibility.
A driving assist system that can help prevent collisions and mitigate their effects is the so-called 'Pre-Safe Impulse Rear' function. If we are stopped by a retention and the vehicle detects that a car will collide with us, in case there is space, it will move the ESF 2019 forward in an autonomous way.In relation to the interior of the new Mercedes-Benz ESF 2019 arises a cabin really familiar, but with new security solutions. The steering wheel and the pedals are retractable, since, remember, the vehicle has autonomous driving technology. There are also new seat belt tensioners, a function that monitors the installation of the child seat, as well as the vital signs of the small. Autonews
