DURANGO SRT ''HOT PURSUIT''
Dodge introduced a curious and aggressive concept about the largest SUV in its line, the Dodge Durango SRT Pursuit Speed Trap Concept. He has set up a police chase vehicle and hides underneath the hood the 808 hp V8 HEMI Hellcat engine from the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye.
For now, the brand did not want to reveal the reasons behind the creation of this brutal prototype, as well as the performance figures of the model, which are supposed to be impressive and clearly superior to those of the Dodge Durango SRT of 482 hp, which already offered an income performance. But the brand has confirmed its destiny, to participate in the route 'One Lap of America' that will travel the United States in a great tour of more than 6,400 kilometers and that will count on numerous events in diverse circuits. As it is clear at first glance, the Durango SRT Pursuit Speed Trap Concept has the customary configuration of American police vehicles, including the upper emergency lights, but with an excess of stickers on the side panels of the bodywork.
But what is truly interesting about this prototype is hidden beneath the hood, where the brand installed the brutal 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V6 supercharged in its Redeye configuration. This is the same configuration we found in the engine of the new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye 2019 which delivers 808 hp and 958 Nm of maximum torque thanks to the innumerable elements inherited from the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. In addition to the mechanics of the Hellcat Redeye comes a new chassis configuration to support the new mechanical performance, with a lower and stiffer suspension scheme with new 20-inch wheels wedged with Pirelli P-Zero tires. Given that the new power is transmitted to the asphalt through an 8-speed automatic transmission and the Durango's efficient all-wheel drive system, we can expect acceleration numbers even higher than the Challenger SRT Hellcat and Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk versions, whose power is slightly below that of this Dodge prototype. As we have already seen, using the same engine, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk can better convey the power to the asphalt than the Hellcat versions of the Challenger. Autonews/Mundoquatrorodas
