RALLY DAKAR 2019

Geely:Asian brand in competition with car powered by Methanol
The chassis and bodywork is well-known, the SMG Buggy, but the engine and fuel are new. Geely Auto Shell Lubricant Cooper and Asia's "King of TT" Han Wei are on the Dakar with a 100% methanol-powered car for the first time in the history of the race.
The chassis already everyone knows, but inside the technologies of Geely stand out. Methanol is considered a clean and efficient fuel and can also be harvested sustainably.
Compared to gasoline or diesel, methanol produces fewer particulate emissions and burns more efficiently, allowing vehicles to perform better while being more environmentally friendly.
In motoring, methanol is used regularly because of its ability to handle higher compression rates and thus produce more power. Methanol can be obtained by turning dirty coal into clean methanol, or by recycling CO2, removing excess greenhouse gases from the environment.
Last October, at the Rally of Morocco, the Geely Auto Shell Lubricant Cooper Tire team tested, and for the brand the Dakar is the perfect opportunity to attest to the feasibility and reliability of the methanol powered car.
The pilot, Han Wei joined the Geely Group Motorsports team in 2016 to form the Geely Auto Shell Lubricant Cooper Tire team to participate in all-terrain races around the world. Since joining Geely, her team has been a three-time winner of the Taklimakan Rally, third in the Rally Silk Rally and won the class T1.3 in Morocco. José Luis Abreu, Portugal
