Incentives for the exchange of old diesel cars for new ones reaches € 15,000 in Germany

The anti-diesel speech has been rising in tone and, with it, the demand for this type of engines has been falling. Germany, which has one of the largest anchors in the automotive industry, has been one of the European countries to implement tough policies to restrict the movement of old cars to diesel. However, unlike in other Member States of the European Union, it monitors these limitations by helping to purchase a new, less polluting car. And the industry itself makes its share of effort for an improvement in air quality. Volkswagen, for example, announced that by the end of April it will extend aid to the whole German territory to exchange old diesel for a new vehicle.
So far, the German builder has limited incentives to cities that the German government has flagged as particularly polluted, practicing "rebates" ranging from € 500 to € 7,000 on the purchase of a new Volkswagen. With the announced extension of the territory covered by the program, any German can benefit from this support in the car exchange, which has to be added to the state incentives.
To enjoy these stimuli, the only condition that needs to be met is to have a Euro IV or Euro V diesel, which does not even need to be Volkswagen. Then, the value does not depend on the old vehicle, but on the new model to acquire. One up! "Worth € 500; Golf and Touran give a discount of up to € 4,000, with the largest contribution being attributed to the more expensive models, such as the Passat, Arteon or Touareg, whose purchase can be up to € 7,000 cheaper. Another of the advantages of this exchange program is that it can be combined with state subsidies granted to those who want to bid farewell to their old car (from Euro I to Euro IV). The values range from € 1,500 to € 8,000. That is, in the limit, the support can reach 15.000 €.
