BIGREP

BigRep's NERA: World-First Fully 3D Printed e-MotorcycleBuild this bike in your house

From the toy to the child to the necklace, through that piece that has gone and that is no longer made, everything - or practically everything - can be produced in a 3D printer. Of course there are better equipment than others, and there are even printers that work with materials other than traditional plastic, being possible to print on metals such as aluminum, among others.Taking advantage of this continuous evolution of the technology of three-dimensional prints, the German manufacturer BigRep decided to propose that customers purchase the plans and materials of an electric motorcycle, and then print everything at home. This implies owning a printer larger than those for making only necklaces and chess pieces, as well as more robust plastics, since the efforts at the level of the suspensions and frame are particularly violent. At the moment, BigRep says that the 3D bike is still a project, called Nera E-Motocycle, as there are a number of legal details to overcome before the vehicle is able to circulate on the public road. But after the necessary tests and validations, the 3D bike, with its 15 pieces of innovative design, can perfectly see the light of day. She and the curious airless tires, similar to those Michelin had already presented.
